“Team Against Torture”: in St. Petersburg, an investigator called a file with a survey of an artist who suffered from torture an “explanation of a faggot”

An investigator in St. Petersburg called an “explanation of a faggot” a document with a questioning of tortured artist Denis Sirenko, who was detained at a rally against mobilization on September 21, 2022. This is reported by the «Team Against Torture».

According to the human rights project, while studying the materials on the Sirenko case, lawyers noticed that the materials were accompanied by screenshots from the computer of Anna Emelianenko, an employee of the investigative department for the Central District of St. Petersburg. They show that the investigator called the file with the artist’s survey as “explanation of a faggot.”

In September 2022, Sirenko was detained by police because of a protest against the announcement of mobilization. At the time of the protests, he was near Gostiny Dvor. According to the detainee, he was beaten with batons and electric shocks were applied to him, after which he was taken to the police station, where he was forced to sleep on the floor at night.

Doctors diagnosed Sirenko with a double fracture of his left arm and numerous bruises, writes Team Against Torture. After that, he, along with human rights activists, filed a complaint against the actions of the police, but in January, Emelianenko refused to initiate a case without notifying the artist's defense.

“Yesterday we submitted an appeal to the Main Investigation Department with a demand to bring investigator Emelianenko to disciplinary responsibility for non-compliance with professional and work ethics,” writes the “Team Against Torture.”
