MOSCOW, June 15 Salmonella bacteria led to an outbreak of acute intestinal infection in Bratsk, the Rospotrebnadzor Administration for the Irkutsk Region reported.
«Salmonella became the cause of the mass morbidity. This bacterium gets into products when sanitary requirements are violated during cooking, as well as when poor-quality raw materials are used,» the statement says.
About mass poisoning after visiting a fast food cafe «I want shawarma» in Bratsk became known on the morning of June 13. To date, the number of victims has reached 62, of which 29 people were hospitalized.
The Investigative Committee opened a criminal case. The owner of the establishment was detained.
