The deposit is one of the largest in the Russian Federation, it contains about 19% of all lithium reserves in the country. As Chibis noted, thanks to lithium mining projects, additional growth points appear near the Lovozero district of the Murmansk region. «And we will work with the company within the framework of the agreement to specify measures aimed at updating the social infrastructure, taking into account new opportunities,» he concluded.
Demidov commented: «The development of the field will provide an opportunity to create the first domestic production of lithium-containing raw materials, which will play an important role in providing strategically necessary materials to advanced Russian enterprises. Including products intended for the project of the Rosatom state corporation — a gigafactory for the production of lithium-ion batteries in the Kaliningrad region which is scheduled to launch in 2025.
It is reported that additional exploration of the deposit will begin in the coming months and will be implemented by the competencies of Nornickel Technical Services and JSC RUSBURMASH (geological exploration and drilling company of the Mining Division of Rosatom).
