The Weeknd played the leader of a cult in whose network a young singer got caught. The image of a pop star reminiscent of Britney Spears was embodied by Johnny Depp's daughter, Lily-Rose.
The premiere of «Idol» took place in early June. Almost immediately, the series was criticized by viewers and film critics for the abundance of sex scenes and poor acting. Now one of the most anticipated projects of the year is called «the main failure of the year.»
For example, on review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes, the show received a 26 percent fresh rating from critics and 58 percent from viewers. This is considered a low result, since a picture is considered successful on the resource when it gains 60 percent freshness or more.
