The security forces detained the assistant captain of the Erofey Khabarov tanker, who was driving the ship during a collision with another ship on the Lena River. This was reported by the press service of the Eastern Interregional Investigation Department for Transport.
The detainee was charged under articles on the transportation of chemicals in violation of the established rules, if these acts created a threat of causing significant harm to the environment (Part 1 of Article 247 of the Criminal Code ); with the TR-901 under repair. As a result of the accident, a container with fuel on the first tanker was damaged, and part of the transported gasoline fell into the river. In total, there were 138 tons of fuel in the tank, from 60 to 90 tons could get into the river.
The next day after the collision, the authorities of the Irkutsk region introduced a state of emergency in the Kirensky district, where the accident occurred. Transport prosecutor Denis Avdeev claimed that the captain of the tanker carrying gasoline was intoxicated.
