The Leninsky District Court of Yekaterinburg fined Aleksey Mosin, the head of the Yekaterinburg «Memorial», Aleksey Mosin, 100,000 rubles because of a photograph from an anti-war rally. This was reported by Vecherniye Vedomosti.
Mosin was found guilty of «discrediting» the Russian army (Part 1 of Article 20.3.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses). The reason for the protocol was a photograph from an anti-war rally, posted on the website of the Ural «Memorial». The event itself took place shortly before the start of a full-scale invasion of Ukraine, on February 12, 2022.
According to the organizers of the action, the rally was held as a «protest against the military preparations of the Russian government.» “The fact that the danger of unleashing a war today comes precisely from Russia is obvious to everyone who follows the events at least a little,” says the description of the video from the action on the YouTube channel of the Ural “Memorial”.
Protocol under Article 20.3.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses for Mosin, they were drawn up on April 27. Early in the morning, the police came to the human rights activist's house, after which they took him to the warehouse of the Yeltsin Center, where the library and documents of the local Memorial are stored — in the spring they were evicted from the office after the mayor's office of Yekaterinburg terminated the lease. The police demanded to find Memorial's founding documents in the warehouse.
At the same time, the security forces opened a second administrative case on the «discredit» of the army against Mosin — the reason was a statement on the website of the Ural «Memorial» on the anniversary of the war in Ukraine. “I am the elected chairman of the Yekaterinburg Memorial, I do not control the website [of the Ural Memorial]. Let them find out who the site administrator is,” the human rights activist noted at the time.
