Efficient work of the fuel and energy complex was celebrated at SPIEF
Russian-made products and services, import substitution, technological sovereignty — all this is the main vector for the development of the domestic economy. The nuclear industry plays an important role in this process. With the support of Rosatom, a plenary session was held at SPIEF 2023, where experts discussed the creation of an integrated system of economic development and the role of projects in the field of green energy (including nuclear) in it.

The efficient operation of the fuel and energy complex is of paramount importance for the state, guaranteeing economic stability and the well-being of citizens. Large industry companies are developing production, investing in import-substituting technologies. Rosatom and its enterprises take an active part in this work.
A plenary session entitled “The Role of the Nuclear Industry in Ensuring Technological Sovereignty and Technology of the Future” was held at SPIEF with the support of the state corporation.
The session participants discussed issues creation of an integral system of economic development and the role of projects in the field of «green» energy (including nuclear) in this system.
For example, the head of Rosatom, Alexei Likhachev, recalled that President Putin instructed to increase the share of nuclear energy in the country's energy balance to 25% by 2045. Meanwhile, by the mid-2030s, the share of nuclear generation will be 22-23%.
“In striving to achieve these goals, we will need to constantly adjust for other participants in the electricity market, monitor how consumption will grow and how exports will grow in the Eurasian space,” he said. — Construction has been launched: two more units are under construction in the Leningrad Region, two units to the Kursk station, the Smolensk and Kola nuclear power plants are being expanded, a power unit with a fast reactor BN-1200 at Beloyarka and the world's first power unit with a fourth-generation reactor BREST-300 in the Tomsk region will be built. .
Now 31 countries operate nuclear power and about 30 countries are going to create it at home, said Mikhail Chudakov, head of the IAEA Department of Atomic Energy. According to him, there is a shift to Africa, to Asia. They are striving for energy independence and green energy.
“Many countries are striving for small-scale energy, we work with them and see a positive shift. Nuclear power pulls countries and regions to a new economic level. The most outstanding example is South Korea,” he added.
Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Mikhail Ivanov noted Rosatom’s success in import substitution.
“The state corporation is actively involved in mastering the production of high-tech equipment for LNG , — he said. — Already this year, Rosatom will launch mass production of LNG export pumps. This is just a small part of all the work that the State Corporation is carrying out in the field of mechanical engineering and the development of high technologies.”
The discussion participants agreed that the nuclear industry plays an important role in ensuring the growth of orders for related industries. Anton Alikhanov, Governor of the Kaliningrad Region, noted the importance of the presence of the nuclear industry for the regional economy.
