BELGRADE, June 20 The Serbian and Hungarian authorities signed a memorandum on the construction of an oil pipeline, which is expected to be connected to Druzhba on Hungarian territory.
On Tuesday, in the village of Palic on Serbian territory near the Hungarian border, a meeting of the Strategic Council for Cooperation between Belgrade and Budapest is being held. It is attended by the presidents of the two countries Aleksandar Vučić and Katalina Novak, as well as prime ministers Ana Brnabic and Viktor Orban and government members.
The memorandum of understanding and construction of the oil pipeline was signed by Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjártó and Serbian Energy Minister Dubraska Djedovic.
In April, Minister Szijjarto announced that Budapest and Belgrade planned to sign an agreement on investments in the construction of a new oil pipeline between the countries in June.
In November 2022, the head of the Serbian state Aleksandar Vučić confirmed plans to build an oil pipeline — a branch of the Druzhba pipeline, which passes through the territory of Hungary . Official Belgrade previously agreed on the construction of a 128-kilometer section of the pipeline with an estimated cost of 100 million euros. The section will be built between the Serbian city of Novi Sad and Aldjo in Hungary near the border.
The Druzhba oil pipeline runs through Russia to the Belarusian city of Mozyr, and then branches into two lines: northern, towards Poland and Germany, and southern — through Ukraine to the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary and Croatia.
