Quincy Promes was sentenced to 18 months in prison for assaulting his brother. In «Spartacus» assure that the attacker will try to appeal the court's decision. One thing is clear — Quincy will not be motivated to leave Russia in the near future.
Two cases at once against Promes Promes had a great time last season with Spartak, he was by far the best player on the team, and perhaps the entire championship, on a par with Malcolm from Zenit. However, if everything is fine with the Dutchman in football, then life outside of sports gave several cracks at once. Quincy is a defendant in two criminal cases in the Netherlands.
The Spartak forward is accused of drug smuggling. According to the AD edition, the player planned to gain about six million euros from the sale of cocaine. The story began in 2020 in Antwerp, Belgium. There, the police intercepted two consignments of a narcotic substance with a total weight of about 1,370 kilograms, which, according to investigators, belonged to Promes. The prosecutor's office claims that the footballer invested 200 thousand euros in drugs in order to earn the same six million.
Before transporting cocaine, he allegedly contacted his accomplices in Antwerp, who were supposed to accept the goods, which eventually fell into the hands of law enforcement officers. And much of this became known after listening to telephone conversations. But that's not all Quincy's troubles.
The Amsterdam court considered another criminal case against the Spartak footballer on involvement in an armed attack and stabbing. The incident happened all in the same year 2020. According to Dutch media, the player had a fight with his cousin during a party and then stabbed him. On December 13, 2020, Promes was arrested, but just two days later he was released from custody, although he continued to be in the status of a suspect.
Sentence — a year and a half in prison It was then that Quincey decided to return to Russia in his native Spartak, for which he played from 2014 to 2018. It is unlikely that his return to our country was a coincidence, it must be admitted. Promes' position has become even clearer today. An Amsterdam court sentenced him to a year and a half in prison for assaulting a cousin.
“Football player Quincy Promes received a year and a half in prison for stabbing his cousin at a family party,” the Netherlands Broadcasting Corporation (NOS) reported.
Nevertheless, in the club itself they strongly urge not to panic, because the court's decision has not yet entered into force. The head of the press service of Spartak, Dmitry Zelenov, told reporters that Promes has time to appeal the verdict. And it looks like he's going to use it.
Anyway, there is no point in leaving Quincy Russia now, to put it mildly. Fans of the “red-white” in this respect can be sure that the leader of their favorite team is not going anywhere. True, there is also a moral and ethical aspect, because finding a player with such a rich past can affect the reputation of the club.
