Wreckage was found while searching for the Titan submersible in the Atlantic Ocean
The US Coast Guard reported that during the search for a bathyscaphe sailing with tourists to the Titanic, an area with debris was found. Details about the nature of the wreckage have not yet been given.
As it became known in the middle of the week, a private bathyscaphe disappeared in the Atlantic Ocean, on board of which there were tourists who bought an expensive excursion to the Titanic liner that sank in 1912. Tourists were accompanied by explorers-submariners. In total, there were five people on board: British billionaire and researcher, founder of the Action Group, 58-year-old Hamish Harding; one of the richest people in Pakistan, 48-year-old Shahzada Daoud and his 19-year-old son Suleiman, French explorer, one of the leading experts on the Titanic Paul-Henri Nargole and founder of OceanGate diving company Stockton Rush, owner of the Titanic submersible.< /p>
It is known that the wife of the founder of OceanGate, who piloted a bathyscaphe, is a descendant of people who died in the crash of the Titanic. Wendy Rush turned out to be the great-great granddaughter of Isidor Strauss and his wife Ida, who were considered the richest passengers on the liner.
The US Coast Guard reported that the submersible disappeared from radar about two hours after the June 19 dive. The air supply on board was supposed to be enough for 96 hours — it is estimated that oxygen could be used up at 14:08 Moscow time on Thursday.
