MURMANSK, June 26 Belarus does not give up its intentions to build ports in Russia, including in the Murmansk region, said the republic's ambassador to the Russian Federation Dmitry Krutoy.
“Belarus does not abandon its intentions to build new ports in Russia, including in the Murmansk region,” Krutoy commented on the information that appeared earlier.
In his first interview as ambassador, Krutoy said that after the closure of access to seaports in the Baltic states due to Western sanctions, Belarus does not plan to create a single port in Russia, but will use the network of seaports in Russia.
He explained that Belarus is actively using the infrastructure of 19 Russian ports: from St. Petersburg to the Caspian Sea. He will positively assess such diversification, noting that Belarus certainly needs terminals for the export of potassium or oil products as basic cargo, but there are also several options here — use the ports from St. Petersburg to Murmansk. He added that in a year and a half, Russian ports have completely replaced the previously used ports in the Baltic States for Belarusian exports.
