MOSCOW, June 27 Russian first racket Daria Kasatkina said that tennis players and fans need to respect the position of Ukrainian athletes who refuse to shake hands with Russians and Belarusians.
On Monday, the first racket of Russia outplayed Ukrainian Angelina Kalinina in the first round of the WTA 500 tennis tournament in Eastbourne, Britain, with a score of 6:3, 6:1. At the end of the meeting, the athletes did not shake hands.
“The position of the players from Ukraine is quite clear, and we must accept and respect it. We must do this, and the fans must also accept it,” journalist Yasmin Syed quoted Kasatkina as saying on Twitter.
