MOSCOW, June 29 A consignment of cocaine hidden in a cargo of bananas was found in the port of St. Petersburg, the press service of the Federal Customs Service reported.
«Customs officers <…> found 50 kilograms of cocaine among bananas in one of ten refrigerated containers that arrived at the Gavan customs post,» the press release said.

Drugs were found when the container was scanned by the inspection complex — the inspector saw foreign objects on the monitor in the hidden cavity of the refrigerator.
50 packaged briquettes with white powder were removed from under the casing. The agency estimated the approximate value of the consignment on the black market at more than 450 million rubles.
A criminal case has been opened under the article «Drug smuggling», which may face life imprisonment.
