St. Petersburg, June 28 A Petersburger who ate the tongue of a passerby he killed and subsequently killed a car mechanic, whose body fell out of the car during transportation, received 19 years in prison strict regime, according to the prosecutor's office of St. Petersburg on Wednesday.
«The court appointed Yegor Komarov 19 years in prison to be served in a penal colony with a subsequent restriction of freedom for a period of 1 year and 6 months,» the press service notes. His accomplices Yan Shchepanovsky and Ivan Markov were sentenced to 13 years in a penal colony and a fine of 100,000 rubles, respectively.
There were two murders in total. The first happened on the night of September 27, 2020 in Sosnovka Park, where Komarov beat a stranger to death with his hands and feet, and inflicted more than fifty stabs with a knife. After that, the defendant cut off part of the victim's tongue, and hid the body in a drainage pipe. As the joint press service of the city courts clarifies, Komarov was motivated by the desire to «test his feelings when committing a murder,» and at the preliminary investigation stage he said that «he cut off a piece of his tongue, because he wanted to taste human meat, fried it in oil in a frying pan and ate.» In court, however, he denied this.
More than a year later, on November 20, 2021, Komarov and Shchepanovsky stabbed to death an employee of one of the auto repair shops on Laboratornaya Street in St. Petersburg. “After that, the accomplices placed the car mechanic’s body in the trunk of a car driven by Markov, set fire to the garage box and drove towards the Priozersky district of the Leningrad region, where they got into an accident on the Sortavala highway, as a result of which the body of the victim fell onto the road, and the defendants disappeared,” — says the prosecutor's office.
According to the press service of the courts, in this case, the motive was some «previously occurring conflict»: Komarov suggested that Shchepanovsky «teach a lesson» to the locksmith, «causing any harm to health up to murder,» and he agreed. Subsequently, all participants in the crimes were caught.
