MOSCOW, 1 Jul. The prosecutor of the Chuvash Republic Andrey Fomin drowned while swimming across the Volga Chebswim in Cheboksary, a source in law enforcement agencies said.

"Andrey Fomin died during a swim down the Volga on Saturday in Cheboksary. The cause of death has not yet been established,» the agency's interlocutor said, noting that the deceased had participated in such competitions more than once.
The regional departments of the Ministry of Emergency Situations and the UK refused to comment on information about the tragedy. The organizer of the event also did not answer the questions of the agency correspondent.
At the same time, a message appeared on the website of the Prosecutor General's Office: «Prosecutor General Igor Krasnov and the staff express their deepest condolences to Fomin's family and friends in connection with his death.»
Andrey Fomin was born on August 4, 1965 in Kirzhach, Vladimir Region. Graduated from Yaroslavl State University. Since 1992, he has held various positions in the regional prosecutor's office.
