Ukraine has imposed sanctions against 192 individuals, mainly Russian citizens, as well as against factories, scientific institutes and defense enterprises of Russia and Belarus — a total of 291 legal entities were included in the list. This was reported on the website of President Volodymyr Zelensky.
Including sanctions imposed against the Georgian carrier Georgian Airways. This happened against the backdrop of the resumption of flights to Russia. The list also included the founder of the airline, Tamaz Gaiashvili.
The restrictions will be in effect for ten years. They provide for the blocking of the airline's assets and the cessation of trade operations, the annulment of licenses and a ban on flights and transit through the territory of Ukraine.
Vladimir Putin on May 10 allowed Russian airlines to again fly freely to Georgia. He also abolished the visa regime for Georgian citizens. Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili called Putin's decrees «another Russian provocation.»
A few days later, the Georgian Civil Aviation Agency announced that Georgian Airways would start daily flights to Moscow from May 20. The day before, the first flight in four years from the Moscow Vnukovo arrived in Tbilisi, it was operated by Azimut Airlines. A protest rally was held at the Shota Rustaveli airport, the police cordoned off the building.
