The FSB reported on the detention of a Russian citizen born in 1988, who was suspected of intending to blow up the car of the head of the Crimea, Sergei Aksyonov. This is reported by RIA Novosti with reference to the press service of the department.
A criminal case was opened against the detainee under articles of attempted terrorist attack and illegal acquisition of explosives.
According to the FSB, the man «was recruited by the SBU and took a course in reconnaissance and subversive activities on the territory of Ukraine, including mine-explosive training.» According to the department, he was detained when he took the bomb from the cache.
“In December 2022, he was recruited by the special services of Ukraine, curated by Igor. After that, I received the call sign «Karateka». <…> I received an assignment to go to the Crimea, to Simferopol. First, I needed to rent a house, buy a phone, get a job. <…> I was waiting for someone to tell me where the address is, where the car is located to plant a mine there,” the detainee said on camera.
