The Chernovsky District Court of Chita sentenced local resident Mikhail Romanov to two years of probation with a two-year probationary period. This was reported by OVD-Info with reference to the press service of the court.
Romanov was found guilty of repeated “discrediting” of the Russian army (Part 1 of Article 280.3 of the Criminal Code), inciting hatred (Part 1 of Article 282 of the Criminal Code) and public calls for extremism (Part 2 of Article 280 of the Criminal Code). What was the reason for the criminal prosecution is unknown.
In July 2022, a Chita citizen was fined 30 thousand rubles under the administrative article on “discrediting” the army (part 1 of article 20.3.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses) — the reason for the case was a comment in VKontakte about Russian servicemen.
“What a disgrace, to be proud that you are an occupier, that you have invaded a foreign country to destroy cities and kill people, to carry out criminal orders …” the publication said. Then, at a court hearing, the man said that he had not posted this comment and that his page had been hacked.
