The Oktyabrsky District Court of Novorossiysk found former Major of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Alexei Dymovsky guilty of possession of six kilograms of TNT and released him in the courtroom. The story of policeman Dymovsky from «White Ribbon» to a bag of TNT
45-year-old former policeman, who became famous 14 years ago after a video message to Vladimir Putin about corruption among the security forces, was sentenced to one year, eight months in prison and a fine of 5 thousand rubles. He was given credit for the time he spent under arrest during the investigation, and was released from punishment.
Dymovsky was detained in October 2019 when he was carrying a bag with six kilograms of TNT in a taxi. The ex-policeman claimed that he had found explosives near the village of Mefodievka near Novorossiysk among the undestroyed material evidence that the security forces had taken out of the city and “dumped into the dump”, and wanted to take the TNT to the police, but on the way he was stopped by traffic police officers.
The case on the storage of explosives (Part 1 of Article 222.1 of the Criminal Code) was considered in court three times. For the first time in 2020, the materials were returned to the prosecutor due to errors, and for the second time, in 2021, the criminal case was closed. Then the court agreed with the argument of the defense that Dymovsky was going to voluntarily hand over the explosives to the security forces — this exempts him from punishment.
On appeal, this decision was overturned. An employee of the prosecutor's office insisted in court that Dymovsky was not going to hand over the explosives he found: the number of the Center for Combating Extremism, which Dymovsky called to tell about TNT, was a fax number, and the traffic police officers who stopped his car found the bag in the trunk and asked the ex-major what was there located. According to Dymovsky himself, it «didn't make sense» to complain about the discarded physical evidence «to those who did it.»
Aleksey Dymovsky became famous in 2009 when he published a video message to Prime Minister Vladimir Putin with a story about abuse and corruption in the leadership of the city police. Then Dymovsky was fired from the service, according to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, for slandering his colleagues. In 2010, Dymovsky was accused of embezzling money allocated for operating expenses. Later, the criminal prosecution was stopped.
