«The investigating authorities of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Republic of Komi initiated a criminal case on the fact of the spill of an oily liquid on the territory of the Yuzhno-Oshskoye oil field with contact with the soil and the Kolva River on the grounds of a crime under Part 2 of Article 247 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (violation rules for the handling of environmentally hazardous substances and wastes that have led to environmental pollution),» the statement reads.
It is noted that the investigators, together with representatives of other authorized bodies, went to the scene. Water and soil samples will be taken for the necessary forensic examinations.
