The Governor of St. Petersburg introduced a resort fee for tourists

The Governor of St. Petersburg Alexander Beglov signed a law according to which a resort fee will be charged from visitors to the city — from April 1, 2024 it will be 100 rubles per day. This was reported by the press service of the government of St. Petersburg.

As the city authorities specified, the innovation assumes that the resort fee will be valid from October 1, 2023 to December 31, 2024. At the same time, from October 1, 2023 to March 31, 2024, the rate will be zero rubles, and from April 1, 2024 — 100 rubles per day.

“An experiment is being carried out throughout St. Petersburg to develop resort infrastructure in order to preserve, restore and develop resorts, form a single tourist space and create favorable conditions for the sustainable development of tourism,” the report said.< /p>

Adult guests of St. Petersburg hotels will be required to pay the fee. There is no charge for the day of arrival. The law spells out more than 20 categories of citizens who are exempt from paying the fee, including residents of other cities working under an employment contract in St. Petersburg, St. Petersburg residents, participants in the Great Patriotic War, war veterans, as well as members of large families.

The city authorities claim: «The funds received by the budget of St. Petersburg from the payment of the resort fee will be used exclusively for financial support for the design, construction, reconstruction, maintenance, improvement and repair of resort infrastructure.»
