MINSK, July 5 Minsk takes mirror measures on provocations and attacks from outside, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said on Wednesday at a ceremony honoring graduates of higher military educational institutions.
«In addition to economic diktat, political, informational pressure, today we are faced with provocations on our external borders, attempts at terrorist activities inside the country, inspired from outside,» the press service quotes Lukashenka.
He stressed that the republic responds adequately to all these attacks and continues to improve the system of national and military security of the country. “These are mirror measures to protect the sovereignty of the state, without which there will be neither peace nor Belarusians as a nation. In our history, we have gone through this more than once,” the Belarusian leader said.
The President of Belarus noted that he is closely watching the military operations in Ukraine. «I asked an artilleryman: 'Can you fight a counter-battery war?' — 'I can'. This is a great thing. It's impossible without it, as I was told by the military who are fighting in Ukraine. Unmanned aerial vehicles have become almost the main method and weapon of modern warfare. And much more,» Lukashenka said.
Speaking about military personnel, the President noted that no matter how powerful the technical arsenal is, it will not become an advantage in strength without professionals, without soldiers devoted to their native country and people. «The war in Ukraine clearly demonstrates this. The decisive role in strengthening the country's defense capability and protecting the peaceful labor of its citizens is played by the military. Their core is you, the officer corps,» the Belarusian leader summed up.
