MOSCOW, July 6 Russian passenger cars operated by Russian Railways are almost 100% localized, Deputy CEO Dmitry Pegov said in an interview.
“At the beginning of 2022, the level of localization of the production of locomotive-hauled passenger cars was 85-94%, depending on the model. Last year, FPC and the Tverskoy Zavod began work on import substitution in passenger car designs,” Pegov said.
First of all, he clarified, we are talking about electrical equipment and air conditioning installations. “Now for almost 97% of imported components, high-quality analogues of domestic production have been selected. The rest of the products are available in the warehouses of suppliers in the Russian Federation,” the deputy head of Russian Railways cited the data.
He recalled that the level of localization of domestic high-speed trains «Lastochka» of the previous generation is about 90%. «There is no need to talk about any significant shortage of components for the production of trains. The plans are to further increase the level of localization and completely move away from import dependence. Our key task is to ride domestic high-speed and high-speed electric trains, and a lot of work is currently being done in this direction» , he concluded.
