Because of the sanctions, Russia paid two-thirds of the plan on international loans
In 2022, due to sanctions, Russia paid only 68% of the plan on international loans. This is reported by RBC with reference to the conclusion of the Accounts Chamber.
Thus, last year Russia paid 16.3 billion rubles. At the same time, the state paid about 12 billion of this amount to pay off debts to the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
It is noted that as of January 1, 2023, the state external debt on loans from international financial organizations decreased by 17.9%, amounting to 91.19 billion rubles. Approximately 98% of the current debt on international loans is owed to the BRICS bank — a new development bank (NDB).
