MOSCOW, July 7 Security Service of Ukraine in the telegram channel announced the detention of the rector of the temple of the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church in the city of Borodyanka in the Kiev region on suspicion of helping to evacuate residents of the region to Belarus.
«The security service is investigating the facts of collaborative activities of the rector of the church of the UOC (MP) in the village of Borodyanka Viktor Talka. Data on his possible assistance in the forcible removal of almost 100 residents of the Kiev region to Belarus during the temporary occupation of the region are being verified,» the report says. SBU.
According to the department, a criminal case has been opened under the article «collaboration activity». The sanction of the article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for up to 5 years.
Over the past year, the Ukrainian authorities have organized the largest wave of persecution of the UOC in the recent history of the country. Referring to its connection with Russia, local authorities in different regions of Ukraine decided to ban the activities of the UOC, and a bill on its actual ban in Ukraine was submitted to the country's parliament. The authorities have imposed sanctions against some representatives of the UOC clergy. The Security Service of Ukraine began to open criminal cases against the clergy of the UOC, to conduct «counterintelligence measures» — searches of bishops and priests, in churches and monasteries, in search of evidence of «anti-Ukrainian activities».
