The prosecutor's office of the Moscow region has begun checking the company «Mars», which, among other things, owns the brands M&M's, Bounty, Milky Way, Twix, Orbit, as well as Pedigree, Royal Canin and Sheba, for financing the Armed Forces of Ukraine and income compliance with taxes paid. This is reported by TASS with reference to a source in the “law enforcement agencies”.
“The company is being checked for financial support to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, as well as for the reliability of the income received and their compliance with the tax deductions paid to the treasury of the Russian Federation,” — said the source of the agency.
The reason for the check could be the appeal of the head of the federal project on security and the fight against corruption, Vitaly Borodin. According to a Kremlin activist who has previously denounced Russian media, the company that owns brands of sweets and pet food earns billions in Russia, sponsors Ukraine and the Ukrainian army.
After the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Mars announced , which stops ordering advertising in Russia and Belarus, and also refuses new investments in Russia. “At the beginning of the invasion, we stopped all activity on social networks in Russia and Belarus,” the company noted.
