It took more than a week to contain a major fire near a village in Kamchatka

Employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations managed to localize a natural fire in the Bystrinsky municipal district of Kamchatka on an area of approximately 1.7 thousand hectares. This was reported in the press service of the territorial administration.
The department noted that the fire was in the direction of the village of Esso. It took almost a week and a half to contain the fire. The fire is jointly extinguished by representatives of a specialized fire and rescue unit, the Kamchatka Rescue Center of the Russian Emergencies Ministry, employees of Avialesokhrana and volunteers.
During the extinguishing period, the Mi-8 helicopter carried out more than 220 drops of water on the outbreaks. Bulldozers laid mineralized strips preventing the spread of fire in the direction of the settlement. There is no threat of fire spreading to the village.
According to the Forestry Agency of the Kamchatka Territory, four natural fires were active in the region on Friday. State of emergency declared in the forests of two districts
