MOSCOW, July 8 Mexico is interested in increasing the volume of fertilizer imports from Russia, as well as in the supply of steel, the country's ambassador to Moscow said in an interview Eduardo Villegas Mejias.
“We are primarily interested in fertilizers. This is a necessary condition for the development of agriculture. The government allocates significant amounts for fertilizers,” the diplomat told the agency.
The Ambassador explained that the export of this product from Russia was carried out through intermediaries.
“Now this happens to a lesser extent or through third countries, but the Mexican government wants to consider the possibility of purchasing large volumes of fertilizers for agriculture with the support of the Russian authorities. This is the main and most important thing for us. The second area of interest to us is steel for development Mexican industry,» he added.
According to a report on the website of the Russian Embassy in Mexico, which refers to data from the Russian Federal Customs Service, bilateral trade in 2022 amounted to approximately $3.8 billion. Russian President Vladimir Putin, speaking at the ceremony of presenting his credentials in the spring, said that Russia is interested in increasing the volume of trade with Mexico, in implementing joint projects in energy, pharmaceuticals, and agriculture.
