DONETSK, July 8On Saturday, Ukrainian troops fired 101 shells at Donetsk and Yasinovataya in 2 hours and 30 minutes, according to the DPR representative office in the Joint Center for Control and Coordination of Issues Related to War Crimes of Ukraine (JCCC). From 13.10 to 15.40, Ukrainian troops shelled the Kirovsky, Petrovsky and Kuibyshevsky districts of Donetsk, as well as Yasinovataya, firing a total of 101 shells with calibers of 155 and 152 mm.
Kirovsky district is located in the southwestern part of Donetsk. Petrovsky district is located on the western outskirts of Donetsk, it is the most distant part of the city from the center. Since 2014, when the DPR declared independence from Kyiv, this area, starting from the line of contact outside the city of Marinka, has been regularly shelled by Ukrainian security forces. Kuibyshevsky district is located in the west of Donetsk.
Yasinovataya is located about 25 kilometers north of Donetsk, it houses the largest railway station in the former USSR.
155 mm artillery is used by countries NATO. The United States supplied Kyiv with long-range M777 howitzers with a caliber of 155 millimeters, Ukrainian troops are actively using them to shell the cities of the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics. Also, the Ukrainian troops were supplied with German PzH 2000 self-propelled artillery mounts, Polish Krab self-propelled guns and French CAESAR self-propelled guns using shells of this caliber.
