MOSCOW, Jul 9 Russian tennis player Roman Safiullin said that will not change his habits and take more expensive hotel rooms after he earns a career-high prize money for reaching the Wimbledon quarter-finals.
On Sunday Safiullin (92nd racket of the world) defeated the representative of Canada Denis Shapovalov (29) and reached the 1/4 finals of the Grand Slam tournament for the first time in his career. For this, the 25-year-old Russian will receive about 430 thousand dollars. He has previously earned over $1.1 million in prize money throughout his career. According to him, he still does not have an equipment sponsor.
“After the match, I still didn’t realize that I had reached the quarterfinals, especially since this is my first time playing in the main draw of Wimbledon. «Will I move out of a budget hotel after my record winnings? Why should I change it? It's a good hotel. Of course it's not five stars, but I like the bed. Everything is fine for me. Actually, it's not so far to go and there are no traffic jams» so much. Why should I change it? To be honest, I have not yet checked how much money I will receive for reaching the quarterfinals. Anyway, I will invest them in my team and earn even more in the future,» Safiullin said at a press conference.

Safiullin also confirmed that he missed the French Open because he forgot to register to the tournament.
“Yes, I forgot to register for the Roland Garros qualification because I had a match against (Bernabe) Zapata Miralles (at the tournament in Madrid) and I completely forgot that I need to register and I didn’t but the thing is, I got injured in Rome, so I still wouldn't be able to play at Roland Garros because I had a problem that I couldn't recover so quickly.» — said the Russian tennis player.
