KRASNODAR, Jul 13The editor-in-chief of the RT television channel Margarita Simonyan, opening the festival «RT. Doc: Time of Heroes», expressed her gratitude to the participants in the special military operation and said that the festival tells first of all about their difficult feat.
Simonyan addressed the participants of the military operation at the opening of the international documentary film festival «RT.Doc: Heroes Time». It takes place in Krasnodar on July 12-14. Viewers will be able to see 15 films.
«Thanks to everyone who is with us today. Thanks to the participants of our festival — there are many of them. Thanks to those who created these films. Thanks to everyone who came to watch. But, first of all, a huge bow to those who are there now: who shed blood, endures, waits and fights for you and me. This festival is about them, about their feat, about every second and minute of this difficult, disturbing, but at the same time cleansing year, «the press service of the festival quoted Simonyan as saying.
Participants of the military operation attended the opening of the festival. Among them — the head of the Cossack special training center «Kuban» Ruslan Tsvetkov, the holder of three Orders of Courage, the head of the branch of the state fund «Defenders of the Fatherland» in the Krasnodar Territory Alexander Starovoitov and many fighters. Guests of the festival honored the memory of those killed in the special operation with a minute of silence.
Director of the Department of Information and Press of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Maria Zakharova also addressed the guests of the festivals, noting that documentary films combine all the best from feature filmmaking and documentary journalism, and now documentary filmmakers have a great responsibility for conveying to the audience the truth about the events taking place in the world.
«Unfortunately, we live in a world of fakes, manipulation and post-truth, which is why documentary filmmakers have not only a great honorable mission, but a huge responsibility. Their calling is not to convey their point of view to the audience, but to objectively present reality, and the viewer himself must figure it out , where is the truth, and where is just a beautiful picture,» Zakharova said.
The first online documentary film theater arteldoc.tv, a streaming platform for projects from all over the world, was also presented as part of the festival. It contains documentaries from the RT channel and other works that have received prestigious international awards. It is noted that now more than 400 non-fiction films of RT authors and directors are available for viewing, as well as exclusive works from the RT.Doc: Time of Heroes festival shown in Moscow. A little later, films presented at the festival in other cities will also appear on the platform.
RT channel is the organizer of the festival. The event will be held in seven cities: Krasnodar, Kazan, Irkutsk, St. Petersburg, Volgograd, Kursk and Grozny.
