MOSCOW, 14 Jul. The star cast of the blockbuster «Oppenheimer» walked out of the film's premiere in London after news of the US Actors Guild's strike broke, Sky News reports.
The Screen Actors Guild and the US Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) voted to go on strike after talks with the Producers Alliance failed Thursday night.
Cillian Murphy, Emily Blunt, Matt Damon, Robert Downey Jr. and other famous actors starred in the biopic about the creator of the atomic bomb Robert Oppenheimer. The actors managed to appear before the public on the red carpet, but then left the event.
«They went to draw posters for the pickets,» said the director of the film, Christopher Nolan, quoted by the TV channel.
The actors' strike will start on Friday. In May, after the failure of negotiations with the Film and Television Producers Alliance, the Writers Guild of American, uniting more than 11.5 thousand authors who create content for Hollywood films, series and entertainment shows, began to protest. Due to the ongoing strike, filming of the fifth and final season of Stranger Things was postponed, writing of the script for the prequel of the American TV series Game of Thrones, and many other projects was suspended.
