Shortly after the information about the detention of Igor Strelkov appeared in his telegram channel, a post appeared on behalf of his wife Miroslava Reginskaya. This message confirmed the fact of the detention.
The post said that at about 11:30 on Friday, employees of the RF Investigative Committee arrived at Strelkov's house and soon took him out of the house «and took him away in an unknown direction.»
«I managed to find out from my friends,» Strelkov's wife presumably writes, «that my husband has been charged under Article 282 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (extremism).»
It is indicated that at the moment nothing is known about his whereabouts, «he did not get in touch.»
At the same time, Strelkov's lawyer Alexander Molokhov said tsev DPR is still unknown.
RBC was the first to report Strelkov's detention, citing sources and his lawyer. The publication, among other things, said that investigative actions could be carried out at the request of «a former employee of the Wagner PMC.»
At the beginning of the year, the head of the PMC, Yevgeny Prigozhin, offered Strelkov a job in the NVO zone. The discussion of the details of employment lasted several days in the format of an online skirmish and ended with Strelkov's refusal to cooperate. In early July, shortly after the attempted rebellion by PMCs and Prigozhin, Strelkov announced a speech in St. Petersburg on this topic, but the event fell through amid a visit by law enforcement agencies to the venue.
