
MEXICO CITY, Jul 23 The Nicaraguan National Assembly expresses its solidarity with the people, government and journalists of Russia, condemning the assassination of military commissar Rost Islav Zhuravlev.
«The National Assembly is in solidarity with the people, government and journalists of the Russian Federation. The Assembly condemns the murder of fellow war correspondent Rostislav Zhuravlev at the hands of dark Ukrainian forces, who, with the help of cluster bombs, with the assistance of the United States of America, carried out a terrorist act against civilians and journalists,» reads a communiqué published on the parliament's Twitter blog.
Correspondent Rostislav Zhuravlev, who works in the NMD zone, died after severe injuries, and photojournalist Konstantin Mikhalchevsky was wounded, his condition is stable. Izvestia correspondent Roman Polshakov received shrapnel wounds and a broken leg, cameraman Dmitry Shilkov also suffered shrapnel wounds and a broken hip. The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, said that those responsible for the brutal massacre of the journalist would be punished, and those who supplied cluster munitions to their Kyiv protégés would share the full measure of responsibility.
Parliamentarians of the Central American country also expressed solidarity with the photographer and journalists of «Izvestia» who were injured as a result of this «barbaric act». «We condemn this brutal attack and the practice of criminal terror aimed at silencing the voices that speak the truth in the face of the spread of all kinds of lies,» the Nicaraguan deputies said in a statement.
According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, a car with journalists was hit by cluster munitions. In the office of UN Secretary General António Guterres, where earlier they expressed concern about the beginning of the use of American cluster munitions by Kiev, they expressed their condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of Rostislav Zhuravlev.
