And identified their type
The Ministry of Defense and the Moscow Mayor's Office reported a new nighttime attempt by Ukrainian drones to attack Moscow. They were neutralized by electronic warfare stations. The crashed drones damaged non-residential buildings, people were not injured. A video taken at night appeared on social networks, in which we can clearly distinguish the outline of one of the drones. Unmanned technology expert Denis Fedutinov identified the aircraft.
This is not the first Ukrainian drone raid on Moscow. The last attempt was in June. Aircraft-type drones were also involved in the attack then.
— It seems that this is already familiar from previous attacks on the West and South-West of Moscow and the Moscow region, a drone made according to the «duck» scheme, Denis Fedutinov told MK. — At that time, the model was not widely known. However, the collective efforts of the expert community then managed to find a presumptive candidate — this is the Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicle «Bober».
— As for the strange flight path, there may be several explanations for this. Firstly, the flight route, especially in its final section, when approaching a given target, may well not be straightforward. This is due to the need to enter from a certain direction, bypass air defense deployment zones, fly along external landmarks, etc.
Secondly, it is quite possible that this behavior of the drone was the result of the fact that the navigation system of the aircraft received incorrect or distorted data from the global navigation satellite system due to the targeted effect of electronic warfare.
Based on the fact that none of today's vehicles hit any sensitive target, I would lean towards the second option.
It is known that the Beaver drone is one of the latest developments of the Ukrainian aviation industry. Characteristics are not yet widely advertised. The design of the aircraft is made according to the «duck» scheme. Composite materials are used. It has an elongated fuselage. In the bow there is a small horizontal tail, and the straight wing is shifted towards the tail.
The length of the device is a little more than two meters, the wingspan is more than three meters. Experts estimate the mass of the device at several tens of kilograms. Equipped with an internal combustion engine and a pusher propeller.
The flight speed is estimated to be 150-200 kilometers per hour. That is, the drones that arrived in Moscow at about 4 am were in the air for 3-4 hours if they were launched, for example, from Chernigov. The range, respectively, is 600-800 kilometers.
Such drones fly on autopilot, that is, according to a predetermined program, checking the route according to the signals of navigation satellites. It is precisely the navigation equipment that is affected by the electronic warfare equipment.
The kamikaze drone has a built-in warhead weighing up to five kilograms. It is believed that such a charge can break through a half-meter concrete slab.
