KRONSTADT, July 23 Presidents of Russia and Belarus Vladimir Putin and Alexander Lukashenko visited the Museum of Military Naval Glory — a new object of the «Island of Forts» cluster in Kronstadt.
He will start his work in a week — July 30th. The complex was built on the basis of two carefully restored historical buildings — artillery arsenals from the First World War.
It was built in an unprecedentedly short time — from 2022 to May 2023.
The concept of the shape of the building is based on the task of preserving the legend of the Russian fleet as the central exhibit — the first Soviet nuclear submarine K-3 «Leninsky Komsomol». At the moment, the boat has already been completely restored externally and is being actively restored from the inside.
A tour of the museum to the leaders of Russia and Belarus was conducted by the head of the project office for the creation of the tourist and recreational cluster «Island of Forts» Ksenia Shoigu. The modern museum complex was created on the basis of two reconstructed historical buildings — artillery arsenals from the First World War, connected by a new atrium.
Putin and Lukashenko began viewing the exposition from K-3. According to Ksenia Shoigu, this submarine is the only one of its kind — it weighs 2.5 thousand tons and is 107 meters long.
“She was lifted from the water and transported,” she said, adding that this operation itself was also unique and was noted by both experts and foreign journalists. Answering a question from Lukashenka, she said that an exposition is planned to be made inside.
The museum itself consists of two floors: the first tells about the key challenges from Ancient Rus' to the middle of the 20th century, the second floor, according to Ksenia Shoigu, tells more about the period from the second half of the 20th to the first half of the 21st century. Each hall is self-sufficient and dedicated to a separate topic, but in general, visitors will have an understanding of what the fleet is, what role it plays in the life of society, how it developed and why it did so and not otherwise.
Shoigu spoke about equipping the halls with audio guides and multimedia elements that serve as navigation. According to her, everything is ready to start the work of the museum. «A week and everything will be open,» the girl promised.
«Great work and very, very useful,» Putin said after examining the exposition.
«Impressive,» Lukashenka agreed in turn.
