A Moscow resident was asked for two years in prison in the case of arson of a car with Z stickers in Altufyevo

An employee of the prosecutor's office asked to appoint two years in a general regime colony to a resident of Moscow, Philip Maslovsky, because of the arson of an SUV with pro-war symbols. This was reported by a correspondent of «Mediazona» from a debate in the capital's Butyrsky District Court.

According to investigators, 23-year-old Maslovsky on the night of January 28 set fire to a Toyota Land Cruiser SUV near Altufevskoye Highway. On it were the Z symbols, the imperial coat of arms, the inscriptions «#We Don't Throw Our Own» and «#I'm Not Ashamed of #I'm Russian». The fire was quickly extinguished, but the engine compartment and part of the passenger compartment burned down in the car.

Maslovsky was detained two days later and sent to a pre-trial detention center on charges of deliberate arson (Part 2 of Article 167 of the Criminal Code). He fully admitted his guilt and declared a special order — without consideration of evidence in court.

The owner of the Land Cruiser estimated the damage to the car at 4 million 556 thousand rubles and demanded another 500 thousand as material damage. The prosecutor asked the judge to grant her claim. Maslovsky has already given the victim 355 thousand rubles, which were confiscated from him during the search.

“I am completely sorry for what I did and I apologize. I am set up and plan to immediately earn money as soon as I am free to compensate for the damage, ”said Maslovsky at the meeting. He told about himself that he was born in Khabarovsk, and then moved to Moscow — he worked as an administrator of the observation deck in the Oko tower in Moscow City, and then in an advertising agency.

When judge Aleksey Voronin and prosecutor Karpinskaya asked him about the reasons for the act, Philip Maslovsky called it his «stupidity» and «mistake». According to him, he saw a car on the street with a sticker that “looks like a Nazi swastika” and he “thoughts ripened to cause a little damage to this car.” He separately drew attention to the fact that he allegedly did not see the symbols of support for the “special military operation” and simply mixed it up.

On the evening of January 27, Maslovsky went to the grocery store and saw lighter fluid in the mall: “After that, I wanted to set fire to something,” the man said. He found a canister on the street, bought gasoline at a gas station and went home, as he «changed his mind about setting fire to something.» And then he remembered that very car: “And I have gasoline in my hands — I already thought where to apply it. Therefore, I decided to do it this way.”

This answer surprised Judge Voronin, and he additionally asked how he could then be sure that Maslovsky would not want to set fire to anything else. Maslovsky replied that he considers himself mentally healthy and no longer intends to commit any crimes in his life. “Understood,” the judge sighed.

“Please note that at that time I did not know that this symbolism was related to the Russian army. I did not see this in the media, no one informed me. I confused this symbol with the Nazi swastika. I had a winter depression, I got drunk on various pills, mixing them with an energy drink, ”Maslovsky read out from a notebook during the debate.

He called the incident «an important lesson» and asked the court not to give him a real term so that he could earn money for damages. “Give me a chance to get on the path to recovery. I won't let you down. My fate depends on your decision. I'm still young. I am not a criminal, I have no place among criminals,” he turned to the judge.
