MOSCOW, Jul 27 A married couple from Ukraine hid their good financial condition to live in Switzerland for free, writes Blick.
«I never thought that something like this could happen to us,» said the Swiss resident who provided the family with an apartment.
Initially, a couple from Ukraine booked in Zurich four-room apartment to spend a week's vacation, the newspaper notes. But then the family decided to stay abroad, not wanting to return to troubled Kyiv. They became refugees and lived for free, the author explains.
The family that accepted the refugees became suspicious that they were not constrained by funds after they began to visit luxury resorts in Austria and buy expensive things, like a Louis Vuitton bag for three thousand francs or Tiffany earrings worth another thousand.
«It turned out that Ivan (a refugee. — Approx. ed.) is a wealthy man. He has a villa and an apartment in Kiev. His catering the company supplies gourmet meals. Ivan's wife Natasha, a former model, has her own clothing brand,» said the Swiss.
At the same time, according to the man, in early April, the couple suddenly disappeared, but reappeared in June, demanding the keys from the apartment. They shouted, threatened and left only when the Swiss called the police.
The apartment itself was in a terrible state: the toilets were broken, the carpets were burnt, there was dirt everywhere, he added. The total damage is estimated at 16 thousand francs.
A criminal case was opened against the Ukrainian couple. They must pay 57 thousand francs.
