St. Petersburg, 27 Jul. Representatives of the state corporation Rosatom will visit Burundi in September this year to discuss the details of a project to develop cooperation in the nuclear sector, Foreign Minister of Burundi Albert Shingiro said on the sidelines of the Russia-Africa Economic Forum.
«Very soon, in September , a Rosatom team will arrive in Bujumbura (the capital of Burundi — ed.) to discuss the details of the project from a technical point of view,» Shingiro said.
Russia and Burundi signed on Thursday an intergovernmental agreement on cooperation in the peaceful use of atomic energy. The agreement will make it possible to start the practical implementation of specific cooperation projects in a wide range of areas.
In addition, on the sidelines of the summit, a memorandum of understanding was signed between Rosatom and the Ministry of National Education and Scientific Research of Burundi on cooperation in education and training personnel for the nuclear power industry of this African country.
The second Russia-Africa summit and economic forum is taking place on July 27-28. acts as an information partner of the event.
