Izvestia: government allowed bankrupt Russians to keep mortgage apartments
Russian mortgage lenders in case of personal bankruptcy will be able to keep the only housing. This is reported by Izvestia with reference to a bill approved by the government.
The draft official recall of the Cabinet of Ministers states that bankrupt Russians will need to conclude a settlement agreement with the bank or draw up a debt restructuring plan in order to maintain a mortgage apartment.< /p>
The government supports the initiative, taking into account its refinement. For example, deputies should work out the conditions for repaying the debt and concluding these agreements.
Financial services expert Andrei Barkhota notes that in order to implement this bill, it is still necessary to work out a protection mechanism for creditors. There is a high risk of the appearance of scammers who will plan their bankruptcy in advance.
It is also necessary to limit banks that, when filing bankruptcy proceedings, can begin to manipulate the debtor and impose unfavorable conditions for debt restructuring.
