The Moscow City Court sentenced the judge of the Moscow Arbitration Court Elena Kondrat to nine years in prison and a fine of 77 million rubles in the case of transferring a bribe to a colleague for making a specific decision. This was reported by the press service of the Investigative Committee.
The judge was found guilty of mediating a bribe on an especially large scale (part 4 of article 291.1 of the Criminal Code). As clarified in the department, we are talking about an attempt to transfer 50 thousand dollars.
According to investigators, in September 2020, Kondrat met with her colleague, who was considering one of the arbitration cases, in a restaurant. There, the judge said that she was approached by people who were ready to transfer money if her interlocutor decides not to bring several people and companies to subsidiary liability.
After Kondrat tried to convince her colleague by phone to accept a bribe, and she herself planned to speak intermediary. “However, she turned to law enforcement agencies, in connection with which the transaction was under the control of operational services,” the Investigative Committee specified.
The Pravo.ru portal clarified: the case of interest to the investigation is a bankruptcy case. Transport Construction Supply Department. Kondrat herself insisted that $50,000 was not a bribe, but the money she lent to her colleague Elena Makhalkina to buy an apartment.
The criminal case against Kondrat became known in November 2021. During the investigation, she left Moscow, which is why she was put on the wanted list. As a result, the judge was detained in another region and placed in a pre-trial detention center.
