MOSCOW, Jul 28 Russia has been contributing for many years African states, helping to solve the problem of their «underrepresentation» in international organizations, said the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, on the air of the Rossiya 24 TV channel.
«
"We have been promoting this for many years. It was thanks to our voice that Africa had the opportunity to defend its positions on global issues and on the problems of underrepresentation,” Zakharova said.
She noted that a huge number of states on the African continent are “not represented at all” in international organizations, in different from EU countries.
«The European Union is two times smaller, and is represented in the Security Council both on a rotational basis and by permanent members,» Zakharova stressed.
According to her, due to the fact that the European Union is «dissolving» into NATO, there is a «dominance of NATO ideology» in the UN Security Council.
Zakharova noted that the EU countries on international platforms often develop a collective decision, «which is then distributed as a mandatory voting form,» while the states of the African continent vote individually, based on the priorities of their foreign policy.
