MOSCOW, July 29, Andrey Senchenko. Dynamo Moscow Newcomer Nikita Gusev said in an interview that he was upset by the decision of the St. Petersburg SKA coaching staff to withdraw the striker from the main team in the playoffs of the Continental Hockey League (KHL) of the 2022/23 season, but noted that he was calm about this situation.
Gusev, playing for SKA in the 2022/23 season, was withdrawn from the main squad of the army after the third match of the Western Conference final series against CSKA Moscow (2-4). At the end of the season, Gusev and SKA terminated the contract ahead of schedule.
“I reacted calmly. If the club decided that it would be better for the team, then it should be so. Every player wants to play more, win more. «Nothing can be done about it. What happened is gone. I have no reaction to this matter. You will never know the whole truth anyway: neither from me, nor from the other side. I see no reason to delve into this. The season has already ended.» I don't think I played badly. I helped the team as much as I could,» Gusev said.
In July, Gusev signed a one-year contract with Dynamo.
