Earlier, leader of A Just Russia — For Truth, State Duma deputy Sergei Mironov criticized Stanislav Pozdnyakov, president of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC), saying that Russia continues to consider itself a part of the Olympic movement, despite the «Russophobic policy of the International Olympic Committee.» Pozdnyakov said that statements about the need to withdraw from the Olympic movement play into the hands of those who seek the isolation of Russia.
“I agree with Pozdnyakov, such statements really play into the hands of those who are against Russia in the international arena. On the other hand, I understand what these words mean, and they are, in general, fair. are radical and contrary to common sense and all the charters of the Olympic movement. You just need to stand on the position of preserving the charter, and, perhaps, in this case there will be fewer different insinuations from our Western partners,» Mamiashvili said.
«I have just returned from a big sporting event — a professional league that was held in Vladikavkaz. It was attended by 15 countries, there were world champions, Olympic champions. In addition to competitions, this is an additional platform for discussing a lot of current topical issues with the heads of delegations . If they come to us, we should not follow the path of complete isolation ourselves,» Mamiashvili added.
