Earlier The office of the President of South Africa said that the leaders of China, India, Brazil and South Africa will attend the BRICS summit, which will be held in person in Johannesburg on August 22-24, Russia will be represented by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. Press Secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov said that President Vladimir Putin decided to participate in the BRICS summit via videoconferencing — this will be a full-fledged participation.
BRICS now unites Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa. At least 19 countries have already expressed their desire to join the economic bloc, including Argentina, Iran, Algeria, Tunisia, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt.
