«The powers of the Ambassadors Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Niger to France, Nigeria, Togo and the United States have been revoked,» the communiqué read out on national television says.

Bazum's office claimed that the army did not support the rebels, but later the command of the Armed Forces declared solidarity with them.
