WASHINGTON Aug 4 US Senator Ted Cruz and Chairman House Oversight Committee James Comer called on the country's Department of Justice to investigate the work of environmental organizations that are not registered as foreign agents because of their possible violation of US law due to ties with China.
«James Comer and I are calling on the Justice Department to investigate radical environmental organizations that accept money by circumventing FARA,» Comer tweeted Friday.
According to a publication on Cruz's official website, the legislators, in their letter to the Department of Justice, cited examples of the work of these organizations to «advance interests, ties with China and direct communications with White House officials.»
The senator noted concern that «these groups act as unregistered agents of corrupt and anti-American regimes.» He also said that, together with Comer, he began an investigation into the ties of non-profit organizations with the administration of US President Joe Biden and the promotion of «radical environmental policies» that negatively affect American citizens and the economy.
