MOSCOW, Aug 5 Negotiations on Ukraine in Saudi Jeddah is absolutely unpromising without the participation of Russia, Crimean Senator Olga Kovitidi believes.
“Consultations started in Saudi Arabia on a peaceful settlement of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine without Russia are absolutely hopeless,” she said.
She recalled that in June the US «tried to gather something similar in Copenhagen», the US attempt to form an anti-Russian coalition failed.
“Having gathered India, Brazil, Turkey, South Africa and their loved ones in Denmark, the United States was confident that they could form basic agreements for the subsequent formation of an anti-Russian coalition. The State Department still does not succeed today. Most countries remain neutral and refuse to take part in the anti-Russian collusion «, — said Kovitidi.
The senator drew attention to the fact that «not leaders, but only representatives of 30 countries» gathered in Saudi Arabia, according to her, there is no unanimity among these representatives.
““The United States fails to radically change the foreign policy vector of the Celestial Empire and the countries of the global South in relation to Russia. The task of Washington is not a peaceful settlement, but the political compulsion of the meeting participants to sign the basic agreements prepared in Washington, around which the United States so wanted to organize a global peace summit on its own terms and with its own rules without Russia, but obliging Russia,» she explained.
According to her, it is obvious that in order to achieve real success in the peaceful settlement of the bilateral conflict, it is necessary to «invite and listen to the two sides.»
«The conference in Saudi Arabia, organized by the United States on the issue of Ukraine and Russia, without Russia is another political scam and manipulation aimed at continuing the military conflict in Ukraine and confirming Washington's involvement in the implementation of the world chaos organized by it,» Kovitidi concluded.
Two-day consultations involving representatives of about 30 countries on the Ukrainian crisis began on Saturday in the city of Jeddah in the west of Saudi Arabia, the Saudi state television channel Al-Ekhbariya reported.
The day before, the Saudi authorities announced that they were going to hold international consultations at the level of national security advisers to discuss the situation in Ukraine in the light of mediation efforts and contacts with the parties to the conflict, as well as to find possible ways to resolve the crisis.
Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakharova, commenting on the talks in Jeddah on Ukraine, noted that fixing decisions on the Ukrainian crisis at the political level without Russia's participation is absurd and nonsense, but there is «complete field for creativity».
