In Ulan-Ude, a 61-year-old activist was asked for three years in prison due to a clash with police officers after a protest against mobilization

The prosecutor, during a debate in the Oktyabrsky District Court of Ulan-Ude, requested three years in prison for 61-year-old activist Natalya Filonova. Nadezhda Nizovkina, a human rights activist helping the woman, spoke about this.

A criminal case was opened against her because of a clash with policemen after a rally against mobilization on September 24. At the event, both Filonova and Nizovkina were detained and kept in the police department for two days.

According to investigators, on September 26, the pensioner hit two police officers in the face (Part 1 of Article 318 of the Criminal Code) when she was taken to an off-site court session according to an administrative protocol: one with her hand, and the second with a ballpoint pen, because for which both had bruises.

After that, the pensioner was sent under house arrest, and from there in November they were transferred to custody in a pre-trial detention center. A month later, the guardianship authorities took away Filonova's 15-year-old adopted son, Vladimir Alalykina, who then lived with relatives. As a result, he ended up in the Zvezdny orphanage in the village of Barguzin, 300 kilometers from the capital of Buryatia. While there, he talked about attacks and harassment by other pupils.

As Nadezhda Nizovkina noted, the prosecutor asked the court to take into account as an aggravating circumstance the fact that the skirmish between Filonova and the police took place during the period of partial mobilization.

For the first time since the start of the war, the police noticed Filonova in April 2022, when she asked the bus driver to remove the sticker with the letter Z. He dropped off all the passengers and took the pensioner to the police department. As a result, she was given two fines and five days of arrest. Previously, she also regularly took part in protests, headed the branch of the Solidarity movement in Buryatia, and published her own newspaper, Against Everything.
