Trade between the EU and Russia fell to record lows. Josep Borrell, head of EU diplomacy, writes about this in his blog. It points to a 75 percent drop in imports from the Russian Federation to the EU and a 52 percent drop in exports.
The most noticeable decrease in Russian imports occurred in the trade in timber, steel, precious metals and iron. In this segment, the export of goods from Russia to Europe decreased by 60 percent. And, according to Borrell, there is an upward trend.
All this, according to the head of European diplomacy, indicates that the sanctions against Russia are working. However, even he cannot but admit that after the decline in trade between Russia and the EU, this figure has increased in the East. In particular, between Russia and China. Therefore, Borrell calls for increased pressure on third countries.
